Kangnam designated as Advanced Regenerative Medical Institution
No.7058 Date2021-09-10 Hit 19772
Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital has been designated as one of advanced regenerative medical institutions on August 19 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The government-designated advanced regenerative medical institution aims at conducting clinical research on advanced regenerative medical research and its applicant hospitals are required to meet certain standards such as having sufficient facilities, equipment, and manpower and submitting standard working guidelines for clinical research.
Advanced regenerative medicine is a medical technology that treats, substitutes, and regenerates damaged tissues and organs using human cells, but there have been limitations in the application of the regenerative medicine in the medical field. With the enforcement of the Advanced Regenerative Bio Act in August of last year, medical institutions can apply advanced regenerative medicine for research purposes under the government's systematic safety management and support.
With the designation, Kangnam hospital will get government support in the fields of expansion of R&D, alleviation of financial burden, securing various research opportunities, and application of medical insurance fees for any medical practice within clinical research.
“Our designation this time as an advanced regenerative medical institution has significance as the clinical research on regenerative medicine is only available for the institutions that satisfy all the strict criteria,” said hospital director Young-Goo Lee. He added, “As we got the opportunity to study and treat various incurable and rare diseases that were not possible in the past, we will make more efforts for patients suffering from these diseases by the activation of clinical research on regenerative medicine.”
