Hallym explores possible partnership with Universities in Guangdong, China

Delegates from Hallym University Medical Center visited Guangzhou and Shenzhen to discuss future collaboration with universities and hospital in China.



A total of five delegates led by Executive Director Hee-Sung Yoon included Dr. Yong-Sun Kim, Chair Professor of Microbiology and Chief of International Affairs and Research, Dr. Kyung Ho Yu, Director of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, Dr. Kyu-Cheol Noh of Orthopedic Surgery, and Manager Jong-Hun Im of International Cooperation Team. They stayed in Guangzhou and Shenzhen from November 4 to 8 and had meetings with major universities and hospitals in Guangdong Province, China.



The delegation met with President Yao Huarong of Guangdong Provincial Association of Science and Technology, and talked about current status and future development plan of universities and hospital in Guangdong Province. President Yao arranged visits to the 1st Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangzhou, and Shenzhen University General Hospital in Shenzhen.



During the visit to universities and hospitals, Hallym members had meetings with their leadership and shared ideas on future collaboration including joint academic meeting and exchange programs. They also had chances to take a first-hand look at all the university hospitals including general ward, outpatient clinics, and clinical labs.



Hallym delegation then visited the Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen. Since SUSTech has established its medical school recently and now is building its university hospital, both side had active discussion.



“We were very much impressed and surprised to see that Guangzhou and Shenzhen have grown to be one of the megacities in China. There is no doubt that Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and the universities and hospitals in the region will be upgraded and developed further in the near future,” said Chair Professor Yong-Sun Kim.


“We at Hallym has kept our eyes on the development of China and especially Guangdong Province. And now we hope to have good partners in Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the days to come,” he added.
