No.4978 Date2016-05-09 Hit 27596

Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) has been hosting a workshop to strengthen the research competitiveness on translational medicine twice a year since 2013. In the recent workshop held on May 7, about 100 faculty members in basic and clinical field gathered to share and discuss their research results.

The workshop consisted of 4 sessions; 6 main presentations, 7 poster presentations and the guest speech were included among them as well as a separate poster session.
The first session covered 3 presentations and a guest lecture including the presentation on ‘The mechanism of NF-kB regulation by RhoA GTPase’ by Prof. Jae-bong Park of biochemistry.
The second session included poster presentations. The third session handled Prof. Sung Ae Kim’s presentation on ‘Alterations of carotid arterial mechanics preceding the wall thickening in patients with hypertension’ and 6 other poster oral presentations. Prof. Jun Dong Chang’s presentation titled ‘Current issues and evolution in arthroplasty from the perspective of translational research’ was given in the last session along with three other topics.

About 100 participants at the workshop included the professor of Basic Medicine at Hallym University College of Medicine, the one of Clinical Medicine at Hallym University Medical Center, and the researcher at Ilsong Institute of Life Science. The event was a good opportunity for all of them to not only share the research information in basic-clinical fields, but also enhance cooperation and partnership among them, accelerating the research capability of Hallym University Medical Center.

In 2012, HUMC founded Academia-Industrial Cooperation Agency to support research activities in clinical fields, and it has also started research promotion with the budget of one billion won since 2013. HUMC is also putting forth its efforts in expanding the research infrastructure by establishing Hallym Institutes of Translational Medicine and Research Support Centers in Hallym University and its hospitals.
