No.4460 Date2015-03-28 Hit 27866

Professor Young-Goo Lee of urology, a director of Robotic Surgery Center at Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital successfully operated Intracorporeal Neobladder on a patient with bladder cancer by using the newest fourth generation robotic surgical system, ‘da Vinci Xi,’ on March 25. As the bladder replacement was performed by the surgical robot without abdominal section, the patient now only has some small scars left and is showing a fast recovery.

Dr. Lee said, “The ‘da Vinci Xi’ provides a surgeon with ten times magnified 3D vision and it helps the surgeon remove the cancer more accurately and make a new bladder out of a piece of the small intestine.” He added, “The robotic surgery offers more benefits to surgical patients including less pain, less blood loss, less scarring, fewer complications after surgery, and shorter hospital stay.”

Hallym University Medical Center adopted three newest da Vinci Xi at the robotic surgery centers in Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital, Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital and Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital.
