Hallym welcomes Dean Emeritus Antonio M. Gotto of Weill Cornell Medical College

Antonio M. Gotto, Dean Emeritus of Weill Cornell Medical College, met with Ilsong Educational Foundation Chairman Dai-Won Yoon and Hallym University Medical Center leadership to seek ways to deepen Hallym-Cornell friendship.



During his four-day stay with HUMC members, Dr. Gotto observed key facilities of Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, flagship Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital and Ilsong Institute of Life Science.


He praised at HUMC’s state-of-the-art medical facility and met with Dr. Yong-Sun Kim, Executive Vice President for Health & Biomedical Science, Dr. Ho Guen Chang, Director of Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and Dr. Ki-Suck Jung, Director of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital.




His official visit from May 11 to May 14 is made for the first time in five years since he participated in the 7th Hallym-Columbia-Weill Cornell-NYP International Symposium in June 2009. At the 7th collaborative symposium themed “How to cope with global pandemic of cardiovascular disease,” Dr. Gotto spoke about “Lipids, inflammation, statins and CVD/past, present and future perspective.”


Dr. Gotto is a much respected academic figure who served as Dean of Weill Cornell Medical College at Cornell University for the last 15 years. He assumed a position of Co-Chairman of the Board of Overseers at Weill Cornell Medical College starting January. He remains very active in academic scenes as he’s currently in charge of overseeing the Weill Cornell Medical College’s key affairs in New York, Houston and Qatar.
