Hallym, Padova Seek Ways to Fight Pediatric Diseases

Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) hosted the 3rd Hallym-Padova International Symposium at the Hanmaeum Hall of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital on October 9, 2012. Under the theme of ‘New Insights into Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Diseases,’ medical professionals from HUMC and University of Padova shared thoughts on four topics: Genetics; Allergy and Critical Care; Metabolic Disorder; and Neonatology.


Since Hallym and Padova decided to join hands in 2010, they have collaborated on a series of annual international symposium to deal with a wide range of medical issues including neuroscience.


Among the Italian experts who participated in the symposium were Dr. Giuseppe Basso, director of dept. of pediatrics, Dr. Andrea Pettenazzo, chief of dept. of critical care medicine, and Dr. Maurizio Scarpa, head of the lysosomal unit of pediatrics.


The specific programs including topics and speakers are as follows:

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Kwang-Nam Kim, professor and chief of dept. of pediatrics and adolescent medicine, said, “I have been deeply impressed with thought-provoking lectures of Padova and Hallym professors, and the lively discussion.
