Hallym Welcomes Swedish Ambassador Daniel Wolvén

Ambassador Daniel Wolvén of Sweden to Korea paid a visit to Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital on Friday, September 23, 2022, along with the Science and Innovation Counsellor Anders Hektor and Adviser Seyeong Yoon of the Embassy of Sweden.


The delegation of the Swedish Embassy was welcomed by Hallym leadership including Chairman Dai-Won Yoon of the Ilsong Educational Foundation, Executive Director Hee-Sung Yoon of the Foundation, Chief Yong-Sun Kim of International Affairs and Research, and Director Kyung Ho Yu of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital.


Chairman Yoon welcomed the Swedish Ambassador by saying, “I wish to thank your country for sending medical personnel to save the lives of our people during the Korean War 70 years ago and help establish the National Medical Center.” He added, “We will do our best to make our collaboration with Uppsala contributory to the mutual development in medicine.”


The Swedish Ambassador thanked the warm welcome and said, “It is fantastic to see the active bilateral cooperation between Korea and Sweden in the field of medicine. And I am delighted to know Hallym has this unique collaboration with Uppsala University, one of Sweden's foremost research institutions.”



At the welcoming ceremony, Professor Narei Hong of Psychiatry introduced Hallym University Medical Center including its collaborative ties with Uppsala University in Sweden and Director Me Yeon Lee of the Command Center presented Hallym's breakthroughs in the digital healthcare system.



Ambassador Wolvén appreciated the long-lasted relationship between Hallym and Uppsala Universities which has developed into annual joint academic symposia, faculty and student exchanges, and joint research. He was also impressed by Hallym’s efforts to actively adopt the fourth industrial revolution technologies to clinical fields.




After the ceremony, Ambassador Wolvén took a look around Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital and also was introduced to the newest technologies such as Remote Rapid Response System in the Emergency Room, and the IoMT Central Monitoring System in the newly established Smart Ward as well as a guide and disinfection robot.
